The Project


The project I did for the Bauer & Soehne Manufactory was both a nice experience and a rather work extensive one. Based on their existing visual identity elements such as their logo, I made some adjustments and additions in order to create a proper corporate design. As part of the “visual overhaul” of the core CI elements, I created a whole new color palette, adjusted their use and application of typography, redraw the curves and spacing of their existing signet and logo to look and feel more visually harmonious based on the golden ratio and added the use of a monogram pattern to their visual language. By adding a thin outline circle to the signet, the stand alone use of it seems more “complete” and refined. For special occasions, I  created a custom made, waxseal-stamp of the signet, which was carefully CNC-cut from a solid piece of brass and polished to perfection. 

Based on the changes to their existing visual elements, I  developed, designed and realised fundamentally essential brand components such as their website, stationery and business cards as well as a billboard advertisement on basis of extensive market research, brand definition and target group analysis. As part of the creative process I also created the bilingual copywriting / body copy in both German and English for their website and marketing purposes.  The icing on the cake was a  shooting of the material- and team-portrait photos for their website. Although challenging, especially during the research stage, the project was both highly rewarding and refreshing as well as quite the diverse multi-disciplinary project.

For almost 45 years, this master joiner has been drafting, designing and making his clients dreams for perfect and harmonious living spaces a reality. From an early age, his passion for craft work sparked when he would be inspired by watching his Uncle Hans in his workshop. Therefore, the choice for Michael’s profession wasn’t simply made because of his intention to find work, it was because he carried a very special gift for his craft in his genes. after months of hard work, brand-definition, market-analysis, rebranding and a business redefinition, we came to the conclusion, that we are so much more than the average carpenters business. With our unique 360-degree approach, we offer and deliver far beyond the average spectrum of a carpenter. That’s why it became clear to us, that we need to change our own labelling in order to fully embrace our corporate culture, core values and our credo.

That’s why we have decided to leave the old and dusty carpenters business behind and embrace who we truly are in becoming a manufactory. You can be looking forward to even more Bauer & Sons, especially through our very own furniture collection, which we currently develop  with a lot of love and attention to detail, together with European designers.
