A set of luxury products for the modern Dandy
The Dandy product set is an elaborately designed packaging design, consisting of an array of selected luxury products for the modern Gent. The 50 cm x 50 cm black box opens to an intermediate cover, encasing a magnetically inlayed certificate of authenticity.
Underneath the cover, which can be easily removed by two attached ribbons, one will find all the goods a modern Dandy requires during the day. From Aftershave, pomade, shoe polish and peppermint drops to get started in dapper dandy fashion in the morning, to fine pipe tobacco, whisky and even a pocket watch for after work. All products are inlayed in custom laser-cut foam, and lined with real black velvet.
This project is based on an academic study about packaging design and its influence on product differentiation and product positioning. Since the study concluded that goods are often interpreted as luxury when quality packaging material such as fine paper, glass or metal is used in combination with gold, silver or copper - especially on black - the project conveys these findings visually throughout the design.
