Herzog Muc Brass Menu
In 2019 we created a marvellous duett of two extraordinary menus. A Japanese-bound bar menu and this large food menu with a real brass inlay. Since the venue features several intricate brass details in its interior design, we aimed at matching the venue's look and feel in the menu design. By designing one large menu, guests would have the whole selection of food and cocktails at a glance, thus making the choice of the right drink or dish much simpler. The downside of a menu size this large is the potential weight of the metal, we wanted to inlay. To avoid sore muscles of the waiters, we had to use merely 0,2 mm thin sheets of brass to keep the menu thin and light. The sheets were polished to perfection, varnished to avoid oxidisation and then inlayed in the menus made from fine book cloth and greyboard. Each menu features a hot foil embossing of the Herzog logo in gold on the back.
The menu itself was printed on Gmund Colors Felt paper and attached with sticky dots, making the quick replacement in case of an accidental spill of cocktail, quick and easy. The result: Over 40 one-of-a-kind menus, all crafted by hand in our workshop, especially since all contacted manufacturers deemed our endeavour impossible.
