The Project

The creation of a corporate design for an Edinburgh based Cakery with the name WildWHISK – Whimsical Cakery includ- ing logo, store front concept, business cards, document design and packaging design. As WildWhisk’s speciality are drip cakes, I looked at a variety of these whimsically baked creations, drew some and made abstractions of these. One detail caught my attention particu- larly during the process – the relation between the dripping and the cake and the contrast between them as well as the forms created by this symbiosis of icing and cake. During my development process I played with these forms and developed them further until the right idea struck. Creating an abstract typographical logo in which both wild and WHISK would play and connect in a similar way as cake and dripping, with WHISK acting as the cake, written in ligatures and wild slightly dripping onto / into the WHISK as a rather playfull brush script font. The result is both playful and catchy, showcasing both a solid foundation through WHISK and the businesses playfullness through the script written wild – therefore incorporating the compa- ny’s core values in a simple, yet playfull and appealing logo design.
